Document Purpose
This policy outlines GlobalU’s commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy digital and physical working environment for learners, staff, and partners. It addresses risks associated with digital learning systems, cybersecurity, remote and office-based work, and the use of display screen equipment (DSE).
This policy supports compliance with applicable health and safety legislation in the UK and India, as well as recognised international best practices.
1. Introduction
GlobalU recognises its duty of care to protect learners and staff from foreseeable risks associated with digital platforms, online learning environments, and office-based or remote working conditions.
GlobalU is committed to:
Promoting digital wellbeing,
Preventing work-related health risks,
Ensuring systems and workplaces are safe, secure, and fit for purpose.
2. Responsibilities
2.1 GlobalU Responsibilities
GlobalU will:
Maintain a secure, stable, and monitored Learning Management System (LMS).
Implement appropriate cybersecurity and data protection controls.
Ensure safe working conditions for GlobalU staff operating in the UK, India, and remote locations.
Provide health, safety, and wellbeing guidance and training.
Maintain procedures for reporting, managing, and resolving health and safety incidents.
2.2 Staff Responsibilities
GlobalU staff are responsible for:
Following health and safety guidance and training.
Using digital systems and equipment safely and appropriately.
Reporting hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions promptly.
Cooperating with risk assessments, including Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments.
3. Online Safety & Digital Wellbeing
GlobalU implements appropriate measures to protect learners and staff from digital risks, including:
Secure authentication and access controls.
System monitoring and incident logging.
Regular platform updates and security patching.
Data protection measures aligned with applicable privacy laws.
Guidance on appropriate online conduct and acceptable use.
GlobalU promotes digital wellbeing by encouraging responsible use of technology and awareness of screen time, posture, and mental health considerations.
4. Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
4.1 Policy Statement
GlobalU recognises that prolonged use of computers, laptops, and other display screen equipment can pose health risks, including eye strain, musculoskeletal issues, and fatigue.
GlobalU is committed to complying with:
UK Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations, and
Equivalent occupational health and safety principles applicable in India and other operating regions.
4.2 Scope
This section applies to:
Office-based staff,
Remote and hybrid workers,
Staff who use display screen equipment for a significant portion of their working day.
4.3 GlobalU Commitments
GlobalU will:
Conduct or facilitate DSE assessments for staff.
Provide guidance on ergonomic workstation setup.
Encourage regular breaks from screen use.
Take reasonable steps to address identified risks.
Provide information on eye care and posture where required.

5. Incident Reporting

Reported incidents will be reviewed, recorded, and addressed in line with GlobalU procedures.
